NEW DELHI: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has officially invited applications for its upcoming Online Short-Term Internship (OSTI) program, scheduled to be held from August 3 to August 14, 2026. The virtual program is designed to create awareness about human rights among university students and young researchers.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this two-week virtual internship, applicants must belong to one of the following academic categories:
Students enrolled in the 3rd year and above of 5-year integrated postgraduate (PG) courses.
Students currently studying in the final year of their graduation degree.
Postgraduate students or active research scholars.
Students pursuing a 3-year LLB program or relevant postgraduate diploma courses.
Additionally, candidates must have secured a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in both their Class 12 examinations and the preceding semesters of their graduation or integrated courses. The maximum age limit for applicants is capped at 28 years.
Selection Process and Evaluation
The selection of candidates for the virtual program is conducted entirely on a merit-based evaluation framework. The evaluation weightage is distributed across three key parameters:
Class 12 Scores: 30% weightage
Graduation / Semester Scores: 40% weightage
Statement of Purpose (SOP): 30% weightage, assessing the candidate’s core objectives and motivation for joining the internship
Stipend and Certification
Participants who successfully complete the two-week virtual internship program and fulfill all attendance and academic requirements will be awarded a consolidated stipend of ₹2,000, along with a formal certificate of completion issued by the Commission.
