PUNE: National Commission for Women (NCW) Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar is set to undertake a comprehensive two-day official tour of Pune on July 23 and 24, 2026. The visit features a robust line-up of events centered on women’s safety, modern digital empowerment, diverse career pathways, family counseling, and ethical media reporting.
Day 1: July 23, 2026 – Safety, Defense Careers, and Counseling
The tour commences on Wednesday with a dedicated focus on legal safeguards and youth empowerment:
Stalking and Cyber Stalking Awareness (12:30 PM – 2:00 PM): Hosted at YASHADA, Baner Road, in collaboration with the Maharashtra State Women’s Commission, this session will brief attendees on legal protections against crimes targeting women, grievance redressal mechanisms, and inter-agency coordination.
She Serves Defense Career Guidance (2:30 PM – 4:00 PM): Held at the Annabhau Sathe Auditorium in Yerwada, this program under the NCW’s ‘SHEServes’ initiative will connect young women with experts to explore career opportunities, eligibility requirements, and selection pathways in the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force.
Pre-Marital Counseling Center Launch (4:30 PM – 5:30 PM): Dnyan Prabodhini will host the inauguration of a specialized pre-marital counseling facility aimed at promoting effective communication and resilient family structures through structured guidance.
Day 2: July 24, 2026 – Digital Literacy and Gender-Sensitive Media
The second day shifts towards technological empowerment and responsible journalism:
Yashoda AI Training (11:00 AM – 12:00 PM): Vishwakarma University will host a training module under the NCW’s ‘Yashoda AI’ program. Designed for women in self-help groups, the session will educate participants on artificial intelligence, digital literacy, cyber security, online financial safety, and safe navigation against modern risks such as deepfakes.
Gender Justice and Sensitive Journalism (12:30 PM – 1:30 PM): Concluding the tour, an interactive dialogue at the Ranade Institute of Journalism will engage journalism students on gender-sensitive reporting, ethical media accountability, and social responsibility in covering women’s issues.
The overarching objective of this two-day tour is to fortify institutional support systems, expand professional horizons, and promote the safe utilization of emerging technologies for women across Maharashtra.
