This tragic and violent incident occurred on May 23, 2017, between the hours of 9:00 PM and 10:00 PM near the prominent Janta Building and Food Plaza Hotel area situated in Budhwar Peth.
The convicted accused standing trial has been officially identified as Sukhdev Ramdas Madavi, a 34-year-old resident of Vadrawadi who originally hails from Yavatmal. During the intense physical scuffle that ensued as he attempted to forcefully snatch the weapon from the accused, Constable Salunkhe sustained painful injuries to his fingers. In a desperate attempt to evade capture and flee the crime scene, the accused slipped on the nearby stairs. Demonstrating remarkable grit, Constable Salunkhe, with the timely assistance of another police officer, successfully overpowered the suspect and took him securely into custody. Following the immediate registration of a formal criminal case at the Faraskhana police station, the investigating law enforcement team gathered robust evidence and filed a comprehensive chargesheet in the court.
